Creative Writing: Workshops to Spark your Imagination

February 8, 2020 at 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

£16

Clare Reddaway is delighted to bring a series of four writing workshops to Clifton Library, after a successful workshop at the inaugural Clifton Literary Festival.

This will be a supportive group with stimulating writing exercises and helpful feedback in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Suitable for writers at all levels, beginners and more experienced writers. We will mainly focus on short stories but writers of any form are welcome.

£16 per workshop (plus an Eventbrite booking fee).  All workshops are bookable on Eventbrite.

All workshops are held at Clifton Library, from 10-12.30 on Saturday mornings on the following dates.

8TH FEBRUARY:  FINDING YOUR STORY

Where do stories come from? How do we pin them down? Once we have a fleeting idea, how do we turn that into something concrete, something readable? Come along to this workshop to explore some routes into new stories you didn’t know you could tell.

WHAT THE WRITERS THOUGHT:

At a recent workshop looking at character, participants said: ‘Loved it. Lovely environment and people, great triggers for ideas and inspiration.’ ‘Enjoyable and inspiring’, ‘Very inspirational and productive’, ‘I loved the way questions triggered ideas that seemed to be close to the surface’.

At a ‘story’ workshop, where we worked on structure and narrative, the writers said: ‘Inspiring and engaging’, ‘SO helpful’, ‘Friendly feedback’, ‘I liked the mixture of tips, facts and writing exercises’, ‘Fun’, ‘Loved it’.

On Clare’s ‘Writing for Performance’ workshop the writers said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the small group and how supportive it felt.” “Totally inspiring!” “Supportive, convivial atmosphere.” “Brilliant. Well constructed. Interesting and informative. Well executed” “Really helpful” “Loved it – loved it all!”
