What makes a standout radio play? How do audio stories make an impact? What can only happen on radio (and what can’t)? This session with radio producer and writer Sara Davies will explore the basic elements of audio drama, looking at ways of hooking the listener, establishing place and character, and telling a story through sound.

Sara was a radio producer at BBC in Bristol for over twenty years, working on a range of dramas, readings, poetry, arts and literary features for Radio 4 and Radio 3. She is now a freelance abridger, writer and producer, and is one of the Executive Producers for the weekly BBC Radio 4 series Opening Lines, about books and stories and how they make their mark.
