Military historian Jonathan Walker has just edited a fascinating and vivid memoir by Robert Ashby, who piloted gliders on D-Day, at Arnhem and the Crossing of the Rhine. These were among the most daring and dangerous missions of WW2, and it was a miracle that Ashby survived. Out of this story, Jonathan has created an action-packed talk, richly illustrated by still and movie images that will leave you in no doubt as to the heroism of these remarkable men.

Jonathan was educated at Clifton College and is an Honorary Fellow in War Studies at the University of Birmingham and a member of the British Commission for Military History. He has written or contributed to ten books on 20th Century conflict and combines writing with a busy schedule of talks both at home and on cruise ships. He regularly contributes to television and radio documentaries.
