With the advent of the Government's Community Programme schemes they were able to tackle similar projects right across the country with an eventual workforce of 800, working under the direction of the newly set up Bristol charity, Sustrans. Ten years ago he set up Greenways and Cycleroutes to concentrate on delivering local 'impossible' schemes including the missing link in Ashton Park and the Weston-super-Mare and Brean Down link over the Axe Sluices. All this work was based here in Clifton and Bristol.
