Clifton Village LitFest
Lilleith Morrison
Sun 17th Nov 2024 11.30am Clifton Library

Lilleith took notes and recordings of Paul’s firsthand experiences and did the background research into the political events at the time. This background was dovetailed into Paul Stephenson’s story, while keeping his authentic voice and enabling the reader to see the relationship between the personal and the political in his life. The memoirs show the influence of his early experiences in life which shaped his character and gave him the courage and confidence to take on the establishment and eventually, in some ways, become part of it. He went on to other achievements, setting up projects with (among others) Muhammad Ali, Cleo Laine and Johnny Dankworth. His experiences sparkle with odd events, like an encounter with the Queen Mother, as well as prestigious awards such as one from the United Nations for his work against apartheid. The foreword to this book is written by his lifelong friend Tony Benn. Lilleith will be in conversation with Paula O’Rourke.

Tickets are £12 and available via Eventbrite using the link below or in person at the library during opening hours – cash only. Tickets will also be available outside library opening hours, in the library, on a Wednesday morning 10.30 – 12.30 when card payments will also be accepted.
